Rev. Dr. Piotr Steczkowski in his expert opinion describes the concept of marriage in canon law. As the author writes, the current regulations of canon law regarding the institution of marriage were formed in the course of a historical process of more than two thousand years. The content of this law was influenced essentially by two factors, both the religious doctrine of Christianity regarding marriage and the confrontation with regulations produced by states or by the communities in question.
