The presented expertise introduces us to the issue of marriage and parenthood in Lithuania. According to the regulations included in Lithuanian law, the family is the basis of society and the state, and the mother, father and children are under the protection and care of the state. As we read further in the study, marriage is concluded with the voluntary mutual consent of a man and a woman, and is formalized in the manner specified by law – Lithuanian regulations clearly approach marriages between persons of the same sex.
