As Professor Malgorzata Ganczar rightly notes in her expert opinion, civil status is, under the Law of November 28, 2014. Law on Civil Status Records, the legal situation of a person expressed by the characteristics that individualize a person, shaped by natural events, legal actions or court decisions, or decisions of authorities, stated in the civil status record. The characteristics that individualize a person are those that are inherent and belong only to a person, at the same time making it possible to establish his identity, such as name, surname, date and place of birth, parents’ names or gender. Some of these characteristics may be common to several people, such as first name and last name, but together with other characteristics, such as date and place of birth, parents’ names and surnames, make it possible to individualize a specific person, because taken together they are specific only to a specific physical person.
